Waterford Plaza Shopping Centre, located opposite Curtin University and just 7km from the Perth CBD, is about to complete the first leg of its third stage of redevelopment.
This stage incorporates the opening of the High Street running adjacent Kent Street at the Centre. This unique feature will create a retail and lifestyle destination at the popular shopping centre, including a vibrant late night cafe and restaurant precinct. Further enhancing the atmosphere will be the addition of alfresco dining and a new tavern benefiting from exposure to both Kent Street and Manning Road traffic. A state-of-the-art halo feature will complete the High Street’s visual appeal and result in Waterford Plaza becoming a destination for both daily shopping and night time entertainment.
The Centre is now 80% leased, with the balance due to be completed by November 2011.
New additions to the Centre include Theobroma Chocolate Lounge, Priceline Pharmacy, Gelare, Burger Edge, Movies N More, The Reject Shop, Commonwealth Bank and a new Supa IGA supermarket.
Lease Equity Managing Director Jim Tsagalis, who has been responsible for leasing the development, said “The Centre has traded very well through the development and we expect that the next two stages will be similarly successful. The overall tenancy mix is very strong and offers great appeal to the surrounding catchment. Demand from Tenants has been strong, with most being secured well ahead of the planned completion of the development.”
A new upper deck car park with space for an additional 247 cars and travelator directly to and from the middle of the High Street is also under construction and will add to the high convenience levels provided at the centre.
“The mix or retail on offer, combined with the services and facilities being built into the redevelopment will result in a truly enjoyable and convenient shopping experience which caters perfectly for the diverse catchment.” Mr Tsagalis concluded.
