LESS than a year out from opening, the new 4400sqm Port Coogee Village Shopping Centre is almost packed to the rafters.
More than 80 per cent of the new village is pre-committed, with supermarket powerhouse Woolworths and its associated liquor store BWS leading the charge.
The centre is set to become the main amenity for the Port Coogee development and has already secured other major tenants, including a pharmacy, newsagent and bakery.
Located on the comer of Orsino Blvd and the future Calypso Pde in the Port Coogee Marina Village precinct, the $21.4 million shopping centre boasts 4430sqm of floor space and basement car parking for 188 vehicles.
"We expect the centre to be leased by the end of 2015 in time for an opening in the first quarter of 2016," Lease Equity Managing Director, Jim Tsagalis said. "The centre is well-positioned to support the affluent residential catchment."
Brad Milos, from Harcourts Realty Plus, said that While the new Port Coogee residents will enjoy the convenience of the centre, the development will also be welcomed by those already living in the area.
According to City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett, construction has commenced on the Port Coogee retail centre.
"(The new centre) will cater for the growing population," he said.
