Australand last week secured development approval for the 4431sqm Port Coogee Shopping Centre and is now looking for tenants in 14 specialty shops.
Australand's WA general manager Tony Perrin said the approval allows for the specialty shop leasing to start, a key step toward the saleofthe shopping centre and the handover of the final element of amenity to the community.
"Once specialty leasing is suitably progressed we will embark on a campaign to sell the centre to an investor, which paves the way for construction to begin," Mr Perrin said.
The shopping centre will be in the heart of the Marina Viilage, with Orsino Boulevard and Calypso Drive frontage.
Appointed shopping centre leasing agent Jim Tsagalis, managing director of Lease Equity, said he expected strong interest from retailers.
"With a full range Woolworths anchoring this development, it provides a compelling opportunity for quality supporting tenants to establish themselves in a sophisticated,
exclusive centre with an upmarket customer profile, which will only mature and solidify in years to come," Mr Tsagalis said.
"We are initially focusing the leasing campaign on the pharmacy, after which a variety of other speciality outlets will be invited."
